Chinese is a tonal language witch means it uses tone to change the mean ing of a word.
There are four Chinese tones.
The tone of your voice changes with each tone E.G
Tone 1: ā : A hight flat sound
Tone 2: á : A rising sound
Tone 3: ä : A sound that falls then rises
Tone 4: à : A sound that falls
Chinese characters don't show how they should sound.
Bā means the number 8
Bà means dad
