Elections friday

When is election day?
20th September

What hours can you vote on election day?
9am - 7pm

What date does this year’s election officially end?
4th October


Why does it there a gap between election day and when the election ends?
So they can count up the votes and decide who won

Hoardings
All billboards must be removed before election day

Sign-written vehicles
You are not allowed to have slogans, logos or emblems on a car on election day

Fixed signage on party headquarters and MP’s electorate offices

Delivery of election material prohibited
Nothing can be posted or mailed from politicians on election day

Websites and social media
You can keep what you had posted but no new posts

Processions and demonstrations
No protesting or use a megaphone before 7pm

Streamers, rosettes, ribbons etc
You are allowed to wear one but cannot say the party name

Clothing promoting the party or candidate
no clothing with labeling related to a party or MP

Imitation ballot papers
No forging and handing out voting cards

Assistance to get to a voting place
MPs can take you to the polling location but they cannot advertise

At the voting place
MPs are only allowed to vote in the election place but cannot advertise etc

Campaigning around advance voting places
No advertising
